Happy new year from the F# Software Foundation!
Historically, the Foundation has always posted a reflection on the previous year as well as a guide of the thoughts of the Board for the year moving forward. However, given the circumstances throughout 2020, our post will be a bit different this year.
I want to write you all a small personal note of thanks and gratitude.
The last year has been difficult for many people. The pandemic has impacted us all throughout 2020. Most of us, no matter where we are in the world, have had to make significant changes to our lives through nearly all of this year. The Foundation has been impacted too - programs like the Affiliated User Group program or supporting conferences have been rendered nearly impossible to run, and many in the community have struggled for various reasons throughout the year. Between dealing with lives in upheaval from the pandemic, significant protests in many areas of the globe, and the general difficulty in "normal" living, I personally have struggled, and know I'm far from alone.
Though life has thrown many challenges my way, I can definitely say I've been blessed. And a big part of that is the F# community. Throughout the craziness of 2020, people in this community have kept at it. I'm continually amazed at the dedication and accomplishments of our members and the F# community at large. The incredible diversity and amazing content in this year's FsAdvent Calendar has been the most recent illustration of what all is being done.
While stuck at home through the year, I am grateful to have a community to reach out to - and hope that has proved valuable to others. Thank you to all of you - especially those who have stayed connected and dedicated towards helping grow the community in these tough times. Whether you've been asking questions on the forums, helping people through the Mentorship Program, or just being social on Slack - thank you.
Welcome to 2021, and thank you for letting me be a part of this community. I look forward to the upcoming year, and working with all of you.
Thank you,
Reed Copsey
