Black Lives Matter.
The F# Software Foundation is horrified by George Floyd's murder. Our mission statement guides us to grow a diverse community. Demanding social justice and racial equity for Black people is directly in line with our mission. Protestors are righteously demanding an end to the culture of white supremacy and police brutality. We salute those of you continuing to demand racial justice and equality with your voices, your actions, and your donations.
From its inception, the Foundation has striven to increase diversity within its membership, and constantly reached towards providing safe, inclusive community spaces. From the Diversity Statement, our partnership with Outreachy, to the Community Diversity program, and every action taken in other programs and activities, the F# Software Foundation holds these values close, and continually works towards our mission.
However, the F# Software Foundation recognizes that there is significantly more work to do to create a truly diverse and inclusive community. Systemic racism, especially against Black people, exists throughout the technical community, and the F# community is not an exception. The F# Software Foundation pledges to continue to work on improving diversity within its community.
And while we do that work, we want to support the great work of other organizations already addressing this lack of diversity and inclusion within our industry. In addition to continuing our partnership with Outreachy, we are immediately donating $5,000 to Black Girls Code to support their mission of increasing the number of women of color in the digital space.
The F# Software Foundation denounces all forms of systemic racism, white supremacy, lack of inclusion, and oppression of the Black community. We are asking all of our members, and the F# community at large, to stand with us. Please join us and stand in solidarity with the fight against systemic racism.
Again, Black Lives Matter.
