2015 was a great year for the F# Software Foundation.  To celebrate entering 2016, we are putting out a call to action - now is the time to get involved!

The F# community, and the F# Software Foundation had a fantastic 2015.  Within the F# Community as a whole, exciting changes included the release of F# 4.0, which signaled a change to significantly more community involvement in the F# language, to new cross platform editors like Ionide, incredible contribution and download numbers in F# projects, to the F# Advent Calendar doubling up slots and extending time because it had too many people wanting to participate, and more.

The F# Software Foundation had a big year, as well. After forming as a legal entity late in 2014, the main goals for 2015 were based around getting all of the legal formation of the organization completed, and creating a good foundation for the FSSF moving forward. The initial Board of Trustees worked diligently, and organized and held the first annual Meeting of the Members in May. This brought on our first publicly elected Board of Trustees.

While finalizing the legal aspects of the organization, the new Board and Officers have striven to setup mechanisms for getting programs started and improving involvement from members. Working Groups have been formed, which should allow 2016 to ring in some great programs and activities. Over 570 members have joined the F# Software Foundation. Finally, 2015 ended with the F# Software Foundation receiving nonprofit status in the United States under section 501(c)(3), allowing contributions within the US to be tax deductible.

Now that 2016 has started, we're excited to move forward - but we need your help! With the formation of the Working Groups, any member can get involved, and help drive the programs run by FSSF in 2016. The next few months will herald many new announcements from the F# Software Foundation, with current discussions including programs for mentorships, new interactive F#-based educational websites, ways to ease getting speakers to user groups and conferences, and more.
